A collaborative effort between Katon, MatCab, lewahi and myself, “Fobbies are Borange” was a segment on Katon’s Friday Night Radio PSI show where EarthBound came to life, live. It followed the adventures of Ness as he traveled through the game, but in a comedic way with stuff you’ve probably never thought of before. Episode 42 finished the series. FaB has been considered one of the greatest EarthBound fanwork endeavors, and is definitely worth checking out! While Fobbies are Borange and Loids are not Christmas may be completed, Tree from my Youth is coming in the future.

Fobbies are Borange Comic
A FaB comic is now in production! And guess what? YOU can contribute! You’ve heard the show, now help produce the comic. If you’re interested, create a sample strip following these guidelines and PM it to xfisjmg1. The FaB team will review it, and if they like what they see, you’ll be on board and given the rest of the info you need.
- The strip must be only one page (unless you just feel you can’t get across your sample in one page).
- It must be in color, RGB mode.
- You must depict any scene from Fobbies are Borange and follow the show/lines exactly. The purpose of the comic is to be a ‘read-along’, so please keep your text and events strictly following that of the show. You can get scripts of each episode under the ‘Important Links’ (double check with the audio, though, in case of small changes—it’s vital that your comic follows the audio). The interpretation and artwork, however, are completely up to you, with the exception of the chosen four (which may be drawn in any style, but Ness must be abnormally tall—around a head or so taller than the other four, Paula must be an angry girl with black hair and glasses, Jeff must have brown hair, and Poo has a hair/ponytail thing going on with his mustache—the easiest thing to do is to follow this style example by Stigma, he did a good job of capturing the essence of the characters).
- The size must be 7 inches wide by 10.5 inches tall.
- The resolution must be 300 dpi.
- You can create the page using whatever art medium you’d like—make it on the computer or with your hands and scan it in. Just remember it needs to fit the size and resolution requirements, amongst the others.
- Save your file in the TIFF format, file flattened (no extra layers), with LZW compression.
This is an ongoing thing (and will take a loooong time to complete), so if you’re interested then send a sample! Don’t worry about the details of the workload for now, just get in your sample—if you’re selected we’ll tell you everything you need to know.
