Besides Mother 3, are their any other video games that made you cry due to a scene or ending? I did in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when you learn about Bobbery’s past (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTP-wC3TfvY) and when Eliwood lost his father in Fire Emblem.

I cried after playing five minutes of Sonic The Hedgehog(2006 version) and realizing that I didn’t get a great deal for $9.99.

sprite Nine Inch Nailz

The end of Super Mario Galaxy from the black hole scene, to the babies crying in heaven, to the last lines from Rosalina. I don’t care what anyone else says, I cried, the ending was epic yet wonderfully simplistic, yet still profound, for me.

And also I love the story in that game, since when the heck is a story bad just because it’s simplistic, and it’s cosmetically childish? – at least that’s what I got from most mainstream reviews. But yeah, the ending made me cry. And then there is the awesome symphony staff roll music to end it all off. There isn’t anything I don’t love about that game.

    ^ Same here.

Oh wow, thank god I’m not the only one. I was getting sick of people ragging on it for being too childish. The message isn’t somehow only meant for “kids.” It’s a lovely message that is coupled perfectly with the black hole imagery (inevitable concept of death) and the audio of babies crying in a heavenly like atmosphere (inevitable concept of life anew). It’s simplistic, yet is such a universal message, hence the unique epic-styled title for the game – “Galaxy.”

I’ve never seen a story like it in any other video game I have played. And besides Earthbound, it’s the only other game that makes me cry every time I get to the ending. lol, of course, I don’t actually beat the final boss over and over again, only rarely do I play the final bowser

It was not a sad game, nor ending, but the music of Ristar was tear-jerking amazing. Sega, bring this game back for the sake of everything.

Let’s see what else… ah yeah of course, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Seeing as you have no other choice but to keep moving for the faith of Hyrule and the world too, you have to wake the Wind Fish to leave away a whole Eden of creatures, delighted people and even some friendly monsters. Seeing everything fade away is to leave behind all that you were already getting familiarized with, not to mention the Wind Fish Ballad while in that scene is powerful.

If you lived the GameBoy but never picked htis title, pretend you never knew the handheld.

Nintendo of Europe is like a 3rd world donkey kong country.

      sprite grimp

THAT game made me cry…in annoyance. Not my fav game of Zelda…anyways, back to being on topic.

When I was a kid, the end of Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars always made me feel sad. I rather liked Geno (even though I never used him too much in battle) and I always wondered why he had to go instead of just celebrating with everyone else with the defeat of Smithy.

Also, Chrono Trigger, the scene with Lavos and Chrono (you know what I’m talking about). I think the reason that I was so moved is that it was helped by the anime cut-scene involved with the event.

      sprite Nine Inch Nailz

ah yes, how could I forget, i think there were a few times I cried at the end of Super Mario RPG. How could i have forgotten. oh, and the end of WindWaker. okay, yeah, i’ve named all the games i’ve cried too, shouldn’t be anymore.

Nothing has made me cry before, but there are a few games that came close to such a feat. The ending of Metal Gear Solid 3. The crawling scene near the end of MGS4. Actually, there are a bunch of heartrending scenes in the Metal Gear Solid games. Nothing else comes to mind, though. I recall something depressing about Final Fantasy VI, but it’s been so many years since I’ve played it. I hardly remember the story. So much for it being my favorite entry in the series.

Choose a number, add four, multiply by two, subtract six, divide by two, then subtract the original number. The answer is one.

                Mmmmmmmm……Richer!

I am a super manly man, but I’m not afraid to admit that I’ve cried before. Both times were in Final Fantasy IX and Earthbound, both times because I beat the game and I was sad that there wasn’t anything else new in them. I also cried when I was a lot younger and I was playing Mystical Ninja for the N64 because I didn’t know how to get out of the room. Literally, it took 3 freakin’ hours. I was stupid back then, okay?

Oh yeah, and Final Fantasy VII did not make me cry. At all. Yeah, I don’t get what’s so sad that could justify all of the internet BAWWWWWing. People cry all the freakin’ time about Aeris, but never over Everdred or any of the other RPG characters that died at some point in history. What makes her so much better? What’s with all of the RPG prejudice?

I’m an overly emotional girl so man…. too many to count.

Best crying memory EVER: So my brother picked up FF7 when it came out (you know, before all the stupid hype). It came out in 1997 so I would have been 8 and my brother was 11. I watched him play every minute of that game. After school we’d run downstairs and he’d plug it in and he’d play til my parents came home and made us turn off the TV. (“YOU HAVE ZOMBIE EYES, TIME TO GET OFF THE GAME-STATION!!!!!!”)

Anyway, Aries was in his party. Constantly. We get to the scene and she dies. I’m bawling “WHY CAN’T THEY JUST USE A PHOENIX DOWN!!” I cry. I was 8. It was traumatizing. I look over at my brother and he’s tearing up. He looks at me and goes “I’M NOT CRYING, I JUST HAVE DUST IN MY EYE!!!!!”

                    Fun times with my bro.

Basically every Silent Hill game ever.
                    -Silent Hill 2
Probably the most depressing game I’ve played to this day. One of the scenes that really got to me though is where you encounter Angela on the burning stairway. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten through it with dry eyes.

                    -Silent Hill
The final scene with Lisa. I think it’s the music that really does it.
Also the bad ending where no one is saved. :[

                    -Silent Hill Origins
Scene with the father hanging there right before the boss fight. It got ten times more disturbing in the PS2 version because you
get this intense upclose of his face as he’s up there convulsing and staring RIGHT AT YOUasdfgh.

                    -Silent Hill 3
                    Harry’s dead. :[

                    -Metal Gear Solid 3
The Boss’ death. The muuusic. :<
