Wow… this is pretty awesome/creepy. I remember K. K. Song from Animal Crossing and I thought
it was pretty creepy, but thought nothing of it, and now after searching for Pikmin 2’s Staff Credits Music sheet, I come across this.

So, apparently, the guy in charge of music in lots of Nintendo games has a little theme song up his sleeve that he likes to sneak into different games, mostly by waiting on menu screens and stuff.

Pretty cool.

Still Lamenting for Gaia

I’m still trying to find out if there’s a bizarre name input in LA that will allow Totakeke’s Song on the title screen. I haven’t been able to find the checker for the ZELDA name yet, though, so I have no news. Searching for ‘ZELDA’ or for the counterpart of its save file letter character numbers returns absolutely nothing. Why couldn’t they make these things easier?

I have bumped around with Totaka’s song in three or so games which are Super Mario Land 2: The 6 Golden Coins, Mario Paint and The legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Rareware did something similar in Perfect Dark hiding a piece of cheese in different places through the game. You don’t use the cheese but you just find it. It was even included in Donkey Kong 64 in the Creepy Castle area, there is a trash bin and you find a cheese like that.

If I was a videogame developer I would like to hide some useless stuff inside the games I make.

Uhhh I might be wrong but if you enter “Totakeke” as your name in the japanese version, it works. I don’t know if there is any possible way for an american version.

Totakeke in the Japanese version will play it on the menu, and I think some other name activates it in the European version, but you can only hear it in the frog house in the US version for some unknown reason (really, Nintendo, do you think people would be THAT freaked out by it on the menu?).

ZELDA plays a remix of the game theme.

Yeah, they say there’s no way to get it in the U.S. version, but I’d like to see it missing in the ROM itself. I won’t take people’s word on the internet. :I

Oh, also: One instance those vids touch on but don’t pontificate is the location in For the Frog the Bell Tolls. I believe it’s in a specific shop. A fortune teller comes to mind, but it’s been about a year and a half since I beat the game, so I can’t remember clearly. I’m sure you can YouTube it.

You’d think it would be easier since Wii Sports is such a small game. The best way to find it would be to leave the game running for 10 minuets on every menu you can think of.

It’s on the controller setup screen. I haven’t played the game myself, but it was covered on either the second or third movie from the OP.
