See, admittedly, I have no idea what the hell that gray turn into golden thing is, and I don’t care because it looked really idiotic and out of place. The warped Claus images I totally believe are a scrapped magicant idea. When you’re confronting this images, I really thought I was going to fight the characters themselves, and the background being weirder than usual would mean that the creators were trying to help you see what they see.

I also think that naked Claus was the mirror to naked Ness, and the XXs to reference Mother 1. Just to toss a subtle/indirect “THIS IS THE MAGICANT!”

Reread the post, the sentence doesn’t say “Mother 2 suck” it says “… people… suck.” I thought this topic—and a lot of the things I’ve seen like it—was a serious overreaction to what is a legitimate complaint, no matter how much you disagree with it.

I don’t think you can just blow it off and say something like “he should stick in his own zone,” because this is a sequel. Not some unrelated game. People want to make connections because they loved the previous one so much, and I don’t blame them.

A sequel that isn’t in the same time as Ness.

This could be used for Ninten and his party. No one complains about their lack of presence in Mother 2. But when it comes to Mother 3 it’s constantly, “This is a Sequel where is Ness and a bunch of other Earthbound sutff??”

I’m sure you can name sequels that weren’t very direct just like this one.

The setting in America (or America-like place) and the tone, mood, direction etc. of the game in MOTHER 1 did not change drastically in MOTHER 2. Of course there have been sequels that are not very connected, but at least understand this difference, with the sudden drastic change in MOTHER 3 as compared with what people were updated with last time. If MOTHER 1 and 2 were very different, I’d assume the third time around would end up totally different again, but that’s not the case. Inconsistency is easy to be caught off guard by.

Well, yeah it’s a bit off guard, but I do not understand how it is a bad thing to try something new. The game explains to you what happens in the world, implies how many years gone by and still managed to be somewhat tied to Mother 2. Especially how Mother 3 still managed to keep up with Mother 2 with Pokey and brief time usage. This is important because Pokey warped at the end of 2.

I don’t see how it’s so far fetched, especially with the ending of 2.

actually I always thought the game was a good example of how to try new things and not forget the source material. The feel is still there you still have the four silent protagonists going off on an objective to find 8 different “things” (well after there separate stories are done). You have the same kind of humor. It’s a very similar game
the only difference is the party isn’t made up of a red cap, a pink dress, a pair of glasses or a sword/knife wielder. And they don’t start the search for the 8 things until halfway through the game.

Nobody complains that Kirby has a million and a half games and only 4 of them are original platformers… and I think that’s far worse.

Whatever. We can think up whatever we want, Itoi said that interpretation of a game was 50% the player’s. And I can’t stand people who just say something is stupid. It’s insulting and saying that, in itself, is stupid.

It would explain why he’s able to use all those rockets and things. [disregarding that everyone else can use them too].

TBH most of the comments I want to make note of don’t actually make me want to go on a murderous rampage. They just make me feel a little worse about communities (mostly because I know this sort of thing is so much more rare here than other communities face, and that’s such a shame!).
