Discoveries the second time through.

Because I can't be the only one that thought the Mother 3 logo was rusting.

DrHeavyDDR

On my second play through, I discovered:

-That Wess has Thunder Bombs behind his house, and every once in awhile there’s mysteriously another. I remember getting it the first time, but I think because Osohe Castle took me so long, I completely forgot about it.

-The door knob. =/

-Wess gives Flint a Thunder Bomb before heading out to find the Drago.

-That there’s a freak-ton of presents for Salsa, not Duster, in the cave where the tank came from. Though most of those presents are next to useless.

-The Mother 3 logo is made up of metal and WOOD. Not rust. Which really gives the final message of the game, the logo being all wood, a different feel than it being all rust. (The former shows that mother nature has won over machinery, the latter shows that the world has been completely corrupted after having been fine polished.)

-You can battle the Ghost Sword, Ghost Shield, and the Ghost Armor separately instead of all at once. AND DIEING.

-The beat to the song “Fate” is “1 2 3-and-4 1-and-2-and and-4.” Which doesn’t make any sense really because the tempo is still just your basic 4/4, you’re just beating to the drums.

-Duster’s thief tools work awesomely… at first.

-You can avoid the train all together when heading out to the factory.

-Getting all the Happy Boxes to the people as Salsa under 20-whatever minutes is probably impossible.

-The Mechanical Drago is actually extremely easy if you just level up Flint on Mr. Batties. And you actually find the beat of the music and can kill things easily.

-You can take Lighter’s lumber before going off to fight the Flying Mouse. Which makes the game even easier.

-PK Ground = God Tier when fighting Porky.

-Reggie is useless. At first I thought Reggie was a herb salesman or something because I had completely overlooked his home the first time. Nope. He’s just useless! Only thing he does is FORESHADOW.

-Speaking of people I looked over, I completely missed Scamp. Which was kind of weird during the role call because I had no idea who Scamp was. In fact I thought Scamp was the wild dog that hung around Tazmily.

-Going in other directions besides the ones Alec gives you in the caves leads to hard-earned presents.

That PK Ground existed. (But I didn’t learn it.)

That choosing different pump chimeras that your not supposed to is a very hilarious experience

When Nazi Zombies invade, What’s your escape plan?

sprite LostContactLens

That the crack about how you can ignore the ropeway to Club Tittiboo… “if you feel like climbing the cliff!” actually inspired an NPC. If you go all the way to that area left of the chimera lab, there’ll be a workman near the bottom of the cliff, struggling to make it up. You can still talk to him, and he’ll say he’s trying to “take a shortcut.” If you go back in Chapter 5, you won’t be able to talk to him anymore cause he’ll have made it a little higher up… but not much.

And in Chapter 7 he’ll be all the way up, dissapointed to find everybody’s already moved to New Pork city.

    >At first I thought Reggie was a herb salesman or something.

I lol’d. He does have powerful dialogue though, so I didn’t think of him as useless. I found his Native American home + Rastafarianism interesting though.

    sprite Earthdevil

that the bakery in tazmilly sells fresh eggs so i put 99 in item storage and had 20000dp before i even got to club tityboo. and lol on my first time playing chapter 1 i never knew that flint had weapons (i never checked boney’s dog house never went into the bazzar never checked lighter’s lumber and never found the fresh lumber)

    Ness used PK PWNAGE lol

    sprite KayO

I was able to catch this on my 2nd playthrough.
When Lucas and Claus fight the mole cricket together in the prologe, Claus’ fighting instrament sounds like an electric base.
Later in the game, when you fight the masked man, the Masked man’s fighting instrament is also an electric base.

    sprite Kamuki

That you can leave boney behind in chapter 1.

    sprite Blissfulystoopid

-In the Chimera factory, there’s a room with a glass wall dividing it where there’s one entrance on either side. If you enter from the North, there’s a pigmask in the south. If you enter from the south, the Pigmask switches sides and I couldn’t speak to him.

-If you don’t get the Libra bracelet in Osohe basement near the end of Salsas chapter, you can go grab it for free as Lucas.

-Enemies are vulnerable to status effects. I never found them useful first time or in EB, and in this, they make battles super easy. WAY too easy to level off of Hippo Launchers by having Duster put them to sleep for free every turn.

      - Also learned how funny choosing different pump Chimeras was. Especially if you wait as long as you can.

      - Also noticed the Masked Man’s instrument.

      - The game doesn’t time you delivering Happy Boxes as Salsa. I used Mapson and memorized the houses and am 100% POSITIVE I delivered them all in 5-10 minutes, WELL within the time limit, rushed back to Fassad, and got told I took to long and was shocked.

-Taking the Green Train is an amusing experience.

There are a lot more, but I can’t remember a lot.

Happy Boxes: Fassad says 25 minutes, then 23, and then 3. He’s a jerk.

      sprite Portal-Kombat

-Check out the newspaper regularly in Old Man’s Paradise. It’s on the first floor, near the Happy Box. In order to read it, examine the edge of the table. You’ll always get an awesome palindrome!

-Duster vanishes when you use the Mr. Saturn Table and he’s in your party. He reappears afterwards.

-They froze the last Dragos that saved Lucas in a cold storage room in the Chimera Laboratory!

-You can see a Hippo-Launcher enemy early on in the Chimera Laboratory. Return after you complete the Ultimate Chimera event and check the room with the pink platform. The researcher there taunts you saying that you can’t defeat this new chimera.

-The chimeras which are in cages with labels that show their prices have a secret: a certain empty cage says that there was something called PORKY 08 in there. But you fight that later on, and I don’t think that counts as a chimera. Boney says it “smells mechanical.”

-Noticed that the Upgraded Robots in the final dungeon have a move that can instant KO you without even a rolling counter. Scary.

-There are tons of odd things the random bystanders say in New Pork City.

-You can get the Better Stick weapon from the Bazaar in the early chapters.

During my second playthrough, I noticed that the old man isn’t the only person you can find in hot springs. Very rarely, you can find a girl in those places saying “Mixed gender bathing?”. I saw her sprites once, but I thought they were unused sprites, or something like that.

      Also, this.

^ For Fassad, that’s when your on the acid trip on Tanetane island,

I also realized, that when you first start playing as Lucas in the prologue, you can ram into Hinawa sitting in the chair and get a free nut bread. you do it after you learn how to run, and before you actually ram into the drago.

When Nazi Zombies invade, What’s your escape plan?

      sprite DragonRaiderX9

^Actually, you can do it before even leaving the house.

The only thing I really learned is the money goes staight to the saver frog after defeating an enemy. I felt sooo stupid.

We spell fire that way because poor spelling is KEWL.

        Rebsie

Since everything else has pretty much been said, I do have two thing. (which was mentioned earlier, but not in detail)

When you’re with Duster and Boney in chapter one, after Duster puts up the wall staples, and you find Hinawa’s ripped dress on the branch, there is the cave to the right with 3 moles. If you have the patience to grind at least up to level 20+ (Which is what I did, for Chapter 2 purposes) when I went to the bazaar the next day, there was this amazing stick weapon that really helped in defeating the soot monster, it did about 10 damage along with the leveling, so in about 3 turns, you could get an easy 1000 experience points.

Then if you go talk to people after going to Hinawa’s grave, they give you stuff. However, it’s not only limited to just the town, I found that the people at the beach give really good items.

        sprite DragonRaiderX9

          @Rebsie

Level has nothing to do with it, at least not the Better Stick. It’s a rare item that randomly appears in the bazaar.

Oh, and here I thought that it had everything to do with level, oh well. That’s good news anyway. Because that was the only file I had gotten the really good stick.

            PORKY 08

I always thought that was put in as a small easter egg to suggest that Pokey was running for president or something. Maybe to foreshadow that he would become a great figure or something… Even if it’s not, I still laugh at the concept.

            sprite DragonRaiderX9

I found out a few new things today. In Chapter 4, there’s a Chicken by the hot springs near the Chimera Lab. If you don’t have one, she’ll give you a Fresh Egg. If you soak in the Hot Springs with a Fresh Egg (80 Hp), it will turn into a Hot Spring Egg (100 Hp). Who knew?

Also, you can shock yourself with the machine in the Clayman Factory.

May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce.

              sprite JamBound

Even though I find out online first,
The hot spring theme is a remix of the Wess dance.

              sprite Mr_Tomjenkins

The woman sitting on the bench on Cerulean Beach will demand you give her the Knit Sweater if you talk to her while it is equipped. Apparently Leo-Leo has a crush.

after I pulled Mixolydia’s needle, I went to the tunnel where you found the saturn table to find A Mr.Saturn Pork Bean!

and after mixolydia’s needle again, you can return to the factory where you first got the pigmask disguises to hear an often overlooked song and a depressing sight of unused claymen

there is a magical butterfly hidden under the helmet of lydia’s pigmask friend

I swear that when you’re flying back to Tazmily using the bird cage, it looks like Lucas’ pants are around his ankles and his butt is showing. Not sure if this is the case the first time you fly with the rope snake. Can anyone else verify this?
