I’m having some trouble with the Dragon Tank. Every tme I attack, I do around 70-80 with Crono and 40 with Lucca, then he heals 70 and I do around 5o intead. How much HP does he have total, and are there any good stratedgies against him?

Well, it usually kills me before I can defeat it, and when I try to heal I lose because it attacks twice in one turn and whoever healing is always low on health too.

Actually, I’m just gonna turn this into our Helpdesk topic, because I have an opinion too! (Did anyone not see that coming?)

Once you’ve dealt with the head, you can keep the body from double-attacking by defeating it first and the Grinder second — if you beat the wheel first, the body will shoot a laser at you every time it launches missiles, which is more damaging in the long run. Just make sure you keep your health high enough (over 75 HP should do it) so that you don’t get trampled to death if the wheels are storing energy.

Because it combines two top-tier single techs into one grand attack and causes more damage when Frog’s HP is lower, while still somehow retaining Lucca’s destructive force at all times. (Apparently, not even GameFAQs knows how the “low HP = greater damage” attacks work.)

Was the monster raising system in the original or just the remake?
Also do party members gain experience when not directly in your party? An example, if i have Chrono, Lucca, and Robo were in my party would Frog still gain experience?

Does anyone have any tips for raising monsters?
My monster is currently a shadow smidge, and we currently have 6 wins, but now monsters that are extremely more powerful then my monster are showing up in the lowest tier, and I mean monsters that are a higher form then my smidge like this one snake monster that i can not remember the name of. My main goal is to get it a better form.

Do partymembers out of your party still get TP?

I have no idea what to do in the Derelict Factory. I checked all the computers and went through the whole plac twice (except for the lasers) and nothing happened. What do I do?

I’ve got a question, but it’s about a late-game part of the story, as opposed to a gameplay question; however, I don’t think such a trivial matter warrants its own topic, so I’ll just ask here, if that’s alright.

It doesn’t happen until much later in the game, so don’t worry about it.

It’s in both 600 and 1000 AD, and you need to go back and forth to solve the groovy mystery.

I can’t kill the Mega Mutant for the life of me. I’m using a party of Crono/Marle/Ayla. Any tips?

I’ll go ahead and throw out the tip of “stop using Marle.” There’s really no reason to be using her at all, unless you REALLY like using Haste and hate the idea of replacing your prism helm with a haste helm.

Also, if the Mega Mutant is the one I think it is, then one half is weak to magic and the other half is weak to physical attacks.

Robo’s good if you’ve done the Origin of Machine’s sidequest, but otherwise he’s too slow and I’d go with Lucca. However, I don’t see a reason to stop using Marle. Cube Toss is pretty sexy, and there are only two Haste Helms in a first run even if one is willing to give up Prism Helms, which IMHO is a bad idea.

With the upgraded Masamune, put Frog in the lead of your party and go to the Denadoro Mountains. When the bird throws rocks at you there, Frog will catch one and it will be the Gold Gemstone.

The Moon Stone is in a certain area called the Sun Palace on an island during 2300 AD. Go in and beat the boss there (incredibly easy if you come with a Red Plate to absorb Fire Attacks) by attacking the flames around it. One certain flame will damage the boss, the others will counterattack with a moderate fire attack. The boss itself will counterattack with Flare if attacked directly.

Attack the left bit physically until it goes down. Luminaire/FrogFlare until it gets revived. Repeat, healing as necessary.

Can’t help you with 2 - am pretty sure that the Black Omen is the best place to get MegaElixirs.

Get the red vest, the red mail, and Taban’s vest, and equip them on your party members. Obviously, you should have Lucca. The third member can be anyone, it’s probably best if they have healing stuff, because I can’t remember if Taban’s vest confers absorbtion or just high-level protection. Use Lucca to bomb the absolute crap out of them. When they retaliate, it’ll heal the other two characters and hurt Lucca for a non-worrying amount, unless it actually heals her. Just smash the crap out of them with Fire techs and they’ll die, and your characters will probably have full HP at the end.

Actually, there is an easy way to expliot their AI.

Whenever they change their element, their ATB resets to zero. Meaning that whenever you hit them with a different element (physical/non-elemental counts, too!), they’ve effectively lost their next turn and need to start waiting for it again.

So, constantly hit them with different elements, and if you space out your attacks well (i.e. don’t have Lucca attack immediately after Crono, but instead wait a bit -- until Crono’s ATB has filled back up a little), they’ll never attack once. Use Lighting/Fire/Water/Ice 2 and Laser Spin. Silver or Gold Studs will help you out. Obviously, don’t have both Marle and Frog on the team (unless Frog is spamming Frog Squash...), and Ayla can’t help (except with Dino Tail or dual techs).

High speed is more important than power, but not excessively so -- I successfully executed this strategy with my party members having speeds of 16, 8, and 6 (and no hasting).

Even if you don’t have fire-defensive armor, their fire-based attacks are still the weakest thing they have. And chances are very good that you decked everyone out in ruby vests anyway.

Inside each of the siderooms, there’s a button which summons a Djinn and Barghest (may have different names in the remake.) Beat them and a passage will open in the big room on the bottom left or bottom right. Press the button in the middle of that room, and the passage back in the main room will open.

You shouldn’t shy away from the enemies, either. They’re worth a lot of valuable exp. Scouters can be taken down by the matching magical element (lightning for yellow, fire for red, water for blue.)

Or just use Ayla & Crono’s Falcon Hit dual tech on them. Espcially effective you chose the Swallow item instead of the Safe Helm.

Not much, except for if Crono falls while fighting Gato, heal him up before seeing Lucca. Go home, or to the inn, or quaff a couple of potions.

You can save at any time on the world map from the menu screen. Saving in dungeons is done at save points.

Go to the Mayor’s House in Truce Village, he’s got all sorts of gameplay advice.
