Mmmh… Things are really hard if we’re talking about Game Maker. If you’re a beginner, maybe you should try RPG Maker. Oh, but it isn’t freeware… Anyway, things are really, really hard with Game Maker, so be sure you want to actually make it with Game Maker.

I think you should just get a bunch of examples (of what you plan to include, such as a directional walking system) and find what the code does, and from successfully analyzing 2 examples, you should be able to make your own code or edit others’. At least, that’s the way I do it.

I really like how this one looks. I’m gonna add this one to the “Closely watched” list. Great concept, now keep going! This really could turn out to be the project that pulls me away from Chaisu’s Mother 4 (as far as fangames are concerned).
I have considered purchasing a flintlock pistol and modifying it so that bottle rockets are used for ammo…
...Yeah, this definitely looks like Mother 3... Imma stick with Cognitive Dissonance for the fangame I most want to see. (Also I want to see AsbestosBlatant's thing, but I guess that's dead.)

Just be sure that the plot you create is coherent. Make sure every character has several roles to play, and is important.
The best way to do this is to write up your storyline, then send it to someone else to read, then discuss.

M5_Annie, what do you mean by knowledgeable with music? i can remix pretty well, but I don’t know the very advanced stuff about music, unless playing the Euphonium once counts. I have so much free time on the weekends, that most of what I do is remix whenever the battle system frustrates me.
Hmm, I’ll try to progress further with the battle system. And you can use it if you want when it’s done; it will be open source, but the first release will be one-protagonist, I plan to make updates for it.

To be honest, this doesn’t look very good. It looks a lot like Mother 3’s plot with minor diffrences and you added several characters too many, some which seem like M3 characters with name changes.
Out of curiousity, what program are you using to make this?

[FANGAME] Mother 5
Will is the main character of the story. He is the older brother of Lou and he knows PSI, which became part of a rivalary between the two brothers later in the story when Lou is possessed by Chaos when he fell into the Mystic Spring.
Lou is the younger brother of Will that looks up to his older brother and tags along with him. He is very hyper, loves adventure and has a strong sense of truth.
Linda is the mother of the two brothers; she has divorced Keith later in the story.
Keith is the father of the brothers that left Linda and his sons; he still loves her though.
